Google+ is a social network that builds off of your Google Account. If you have a Google Account, you can activate Google+ very easily. At first, it seems about the same as Facebook or Twitter, but Google+ isn't reliant on any of your contacts you import. So your feed isn't clogged with baby pictures and engagement announcements like Facebook. It's filled with your interests, and that is a big part of what Google+ is for. Connecting you to other people who are interested in the same things you are. This can be very valuable to a marketer.
What marketing techniques have worked for you on Google+?

Google Hangout is becoming more and more popular for marketers. Doing a webinar is great for building email lists and growing your audience. Try to include Google Hangouts in your marketing strategy and you will see that your business will have a bigger reach.

When posting to Google+ make sure you incorporate keywords in your posts. This will allow your content to show up when followers are searching for specific things. This will increase your reach because Google searches are connected to Google+ activity.

Make sure you setup your Google circles accordingly. You want to make sure you are engaging with the right people for whatever conversation you are having. Setup certain circles for people that you want to market your products and services to.

One way to grow an audience on Google+ is to comment on other peoples posts. Instead of worrying about creating a lot of content at first, focus on building relationships and driving traffic to your website. When you comment it gets your name out there and people will get to know you. Before you know it you will have built a considerable following.

Start getting involved in some of the more popular communities. Spend a small amount of time each day to engage in these communities. Make sure to share quality information, and be helpful whenever you can. You will become more and more known, eventually you will see a return on your investment of time. After a while you can start to cut down on the amount of time you spend and just deal with the basics. The more time you invest initially the faster you will build a following.

Just like most social media sites people love visuals. Make sure to include a nice big photo with your post. The more room they take up in a users feed the more focus a user spends on your post. Make sure it is a high quality image for better click through ratio.

When sharing any content make sure you add a commentary to it. Tell people why you chose to share what you are sharing, tell them why you think it is worth sharing with them. This will motivate them to read more of your post.

Most people forget to do this, but use the Email Your Circles options. When you select this option whoever you have in that circle will be notified by email of new posts that you have made. Not everybody has time to check their stream every day, but they do check their email.

Google allows you to disable comments on a post. This is a really good way to drive people to your site. When you are ready to disable comments on a post you get the last word. Tell people why you are disabling comments and that more information can be found at a place of your choosing such as your website or blog.

Always use hashtags in your posts. They are a great way to track and tag conversations so adding two or three will help people find your posts in a search. Most people don't do it on Google+ so you will stand out in the crowd when you do.
