Pinterest is seeing incredible growth. It has even surpassed email as a sharing medium, and has passed Facebook. Pinterest is now the fastest growing platform for online content sharing. Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, and discover new interests by posting images or videos to their own or others' boards and browsing what other users have pinned. It is primarily dominated by women, so if you have a product or service that is geared toward them, Pinterest is the place to be.
What marketing techniques have worked for you on Pinterest?

Pinterest is great, especially if you are marketing to women, which I do a lot of the time. You have to be social and always post new content as much as possible. Following back and repinning and liking pins are also a crucial part of it.

Infographics are still a big thing and search engines love them. Creating pin friendly infographics and promoting them to your followers is a great way to drive traffic to your website. Pinterest is the perfect place for them since it is a visual network, and to have them shared.

Don't just like or reshare pins, you can also comment on them. This is a great way to build a community for your brand and the content you share or reshare. It gives other people a chance to be a part of it and they get to hear your ideas and thoughts not just your visuals. This is a great way to get new followers and create new relationships.

You need to be creative when adding affiliate links. Pinterest doesn't allow them on any pins so you need to add a layer of content in between. This is where your blog will come in. Write a blog post about your product and add reviews, images, and testimonials. Then use your blog post url when you pin and it won't look like an affiliate link.

A good thing to do is make your blog posts pinnable. Create unique images with text, like your post headline and some quotes. Make sure your image has bright colors to make it pop when people see it. Once you start doing this you will see traffic to your blog or website increase rapidly.

Make sure you pin consistently and add keywords to your profile, boards and pins. Try to pin everyday or every other day and always add your keywords. A lot of businesses forget to do this and you will quickly start to outrank them. People use social networks like they used to use search engines.

Don't just sell your services and products, this is like cold calling. Always give your followers high quality content and information. Than 5 - 10% of your post can be about your product or service. This way you engage your audience and then introduce them to your product.

Create boards that aren't directly related to your brand, but are relevant. This way you will get a more diverse audience that may find what you have to offer interesting. It's all about thinking outside the box and finding ways to reach a bigger following.

This should go without saying, but make sure you optimize your profile. Make sure to add your logo and add keywords that describe and define your business. Add a unique description for your business and anything else that will help to generate interest in your brand. People are looking for a human connection, not a robot.

Start following pinners with similar content. You can pin posts by bloggers you follow and comment and like their content. Pinterest, like other networks is based on give and take. Sharing other peoples content should in return get your content shared. You get to know them and they get to know you. This is how you build a community around your brand.

Make sure you promote your Pinterest page on your other social accounts and on your website or blog. You can also share your pins and include a link back to your pin. You can also promote it to your email list or post an announcement in your newsletter.
