It’s simple to forget concerning a vital Google algorithm update from 2003. Hilltop is still relevant nowadays. Hilltop is basically an on-page SEO signal that tells Google whether or not a page on the internet is a hub of data. How do they recognize what pages are hubs? The quality and relevancy of the outbound links. The pages you link out to tend to reflect the topic of your page, and pages that link to useful resources have a tendency to be higher quality than pages that only link to their own stuff. Pages that link out to great resources, establish themselves as hubs of helpful content within the eyes of Google. Link to a minimum of 3 quality, relevant resources in each piece of content that you just publish. This will show Google that your page may be a Hilltop hub.

It's an old technique, but it's a good one. I am still doing this on my sites. I don't know how much it will help with boosting site ranking, but it's necessary for on site optimization. It makes sense to have outgoing links where visitors can find additional information on a subject being discussed.
