Getting to the point immediately is key when making a video that you want to grab the attention of your audience. Research shows that you have about ten seconds or less to grab a person's attention with a marketing clip. Twenty percent of viewers will click away in ten seconds and at the two minute mark you can expect to see about sixty percent drop off. So, it is important to put a lot of important information in the first ten to thirty seconds of your video.

Don't think that you have to be some big Hollywood director when making your video. Make sure it looks good, but keep it as short as possible. You have to get a person's attention quick or you will lose them and most people don't have time to sit there for ten minutes and watch someone go on about their product. Desktop users have an attention span around two minutes, while mobile users have an attention span around two and the half minutes. So keep your video under two minutes and you will shine.

One thing that is starting to change is the use of YouTube. It seems that YouTube's market share is declining and an increasing number of marketers are uploading their videos straight to Facebook rather than publishing them on YouTube, then sharing them on Facebook. Youtube isn't going anywhere but you should be aware that Facebook video is exploding right now.

Just like you do with blog posts, creating a catchy video title is very important. If you create a catchy title you maximize your chances of quality targeted user engagement. You will also start to drive high volumes of traffic to your website or blog from searches. Don't just slap something together, give it some time and thought.

One thing I have noticed while watching videos on YouTube is that people either put a description of the video that is sorely lacking in content or they don't put anything at all. It is very important to have a proper description for your video with keywords included, and links to your website or blog. This increases your chances of getting traffic and more exposure from searches.

One thing that is overlooked a lot is the use of transcriptions in videos. Transcriptions can have a huge positive impact on search rankings when used properly. It helps search engines properly index your video. It also benefits people who are unable to watch it or listen to the audio.

Once you've made your masterpiece and uploaded it to your site or to a third party site, make sure to allow people to embed your video. When you make it easy for people to share and embed your videos on their sites, you increase the potential for building inbound links to your site. This is a huge bump in terms of SEO, as well as extending your reach.

When you make your video it should contain new information and be able to solve problems. If you want your video to rank well and if you want people to click through to the product or service you are offering make sure that you have provided quality information that they haven't heard anywhere else. They are looking for an answer to a problem they have, solve that problem for them in your video.

Everything is all about engagement now. Make sure that your videos are user friendly. Make the content easy to browse, link to and share. Create separate pages for each video, so that video stands out and doesn't get lost in a page of links and other videos. Give your audience an easy way to engage with your product and they will want to engage with you.

It's amazing how many marketers put their videos online without keywords and tags in place. If you want to be found in searches you need to make sure your videos have the appropriate keywords and that they are tagged correctly. If you want to find your target audience and drive traffic to your site this has to be done.
