I’m thinking about doing some freelancing to get startup capital for my business. Can anyone here suggest where I can find some work? I’m pretty good at writing and can do a little designing. If that matters.

Fiverr is a great place to find work. You’ll be able to find plenty of writing work there. You can also visit other message boards and network. It’s all about knowing people. They need a chance to get to know you. Always make sure to be a top notch worker. It’ll help you get more customers.

Thanks for the help. I’ll check Fiverr out. I’ve never used it before. I’ve heard some good things about it though. Are there any other sites like it?

Fiverr is definitely a good place for most people to start. With Fiverr though your gig or job if you will, only starts off at $5, and it's a highly competitive site. If you're looking to make bigger money, you might want to check out: Upwork (previously oDesk), Elance, Freelancer, iFreelance, and Project4hire. A lot of these sights you can set your own price. You can also list your talents on Craigslist and charge whatever you want.
